Voted the best place to live in the UK for 2017, there are few better places to spend your days than Bristol. Straddling the River Avon, the diverse and proud city is flooded with energy and spirit that makes it so popular with young and old alike. The beauty not only lies within the heart of the city but in its diverse surroundings, so what better part of the country to visit and explore than Bristol.
There are so many sights to be seen, and routes to be explored so whether you’re nipping round the city in a Viva or coasting the urban roads in an Insignia Country Tourer, there’s plenty for you to take in. Start off by taking a trip through the city to take in the historic Wills Memorial building, the Grade II listed Colston Hall and the magnificent Bristol Cathedral.
Where to Start!
A tour of the famous old harbour will see the famous SS Great Britain steal the attention, whilst a detour through the bustling streets of Clifton will elevate you to cruise across Bristol’s most famous landmark, the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Follow Portway North out of Bristol around the sweeping River Avon taking in the steep river banks that extend up into the Leigh Woods Nature Reserve. The spectacular greenery takes you all the way through to the M5 where if you’re in a GTC you might fancy putting your pedal to the metal and opening up the throttle as you head north. A slight detour and a £5.60 toll later and you’ll be soaring over the River Severn taking in the spectacular views and heading for the scintillating scenery of South Wales.
Alternatively, you can get behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Crossland X and head out of Bristol south easterly on the A4 for an adventure full of heritage at the stunning, honey-coloured Georgian architecture of the city of Bath. From the fast paced A-roads to the winding historical streets, you’ll be kept captivated throughout your drive.
A trip south west out of Bristol in a Vauxhall Mokka X will have you fully prepared for a family trail to the seaside as you navigate the country lanes separating Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare. Pack your surfboards and swimming gear as you park on the coastline and prepare yourselves for a day of activities, just remember to pack your towels!
