The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car from Drive Vauxhall simply by exchanging their government funded mobility allowance.

When you join the Motability Scheme you get a car as well as all the freedom that comes with a truly worry-free lease. Motability will arrange the insurance, breakdown assistance, servicing and maintenance, and everything’s already included in the price you pay.

So we take care of everything, you just add fuel and go! It’s a simple as that.

In the Motability scheme you exchange part or all of your mobility allowance to lease a car of your choice. These cars are available at a fixed weekly amount for the whole of your lease agreement. The remainder of your allowance, including any annual increases, will be paid directly to you by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK allowance you receive.

To have a wider choice and select from the most expensive and advanced available vehicles you can also pay a one-off upfront advance payment. This is needed because your mobility allowance may not cover the cost for some larger or more expensive cars. These cars are allocated with an Advance Payment which represents the difference between the amount your mobility allowance covers over the three-year agreement period and the overall cost of the car you choose.

Many things are already included in your lease, such as insurance, servicing and breakdown. The all-inclusive package may may make motoring more affordable but it is still worth thinking about running costs, particularly fuel, when choosing your Motability car. To keep the running costs down you may want to consider a more fuel efficient engine.

If you require adaptations to help make driving, or travelling, easier or more comfortable, you’ll be pleased to know that many of the most popular ones are available at no additional cost when fitted at the start of your lease. No, as you are on a leasing scheme, ownership of the vehicle remains with Motability Operations. At the end of your agreement you will have three options:

• Lease another car through the Motability Scheme
• You may be able to keep your current car longer by extending your lease
• Return your car and have your allowance reinstated
